What is silkscreen?
Silkscreen describes the marking points required on the surface of a printed circuit board to facilitate assembly of components and better understand board design. For example, information such as part number and outline, manufacturer's marking, and production date. The most common silkscreen color is white.
Which layer of Gerbe is silkscreen?
In Gerber, Topoverlay and Bottomoverlay are the top and bottom edges of the silkscreen layer.
Silkscreen is important for soldering. You have to pay attention to details.
1. All components, mounting holes and locating holes should have silk-screen labels to facilitate circuit board installation. For example, mark the mounting holes with H1, H2... Hn, etc.
2. In order to reduce the possibility of reverse soldering, screen printing should follow the principle of left to right and bottom to top. Due to the electrolytic capacitors, diodes and other polarity devices in each functional unit, the same orientation should be maintained as much as possible.
3. To ensure the reliability of the soldering equipment, please do not do silkscreen on the component pads. To ensure tin continuity, the tin rails do not need to be screen printed. To facilitate insertion and maintenance of the equipment, the equipment should not be hidden by the number of digits in the installation.
4. When opening the soldering window, it is better not to put the wire into the through hole, hole and pad, so as not to lose a part of the wire.
As shown in the picture below, the "8" of the silk screen is printed on the hole, and the hole cuts the silk screen. After receiving the board, it may not be possible to grasp the numbers.
5. The polarity of the components and the orientation of the connectors should be shown on the silk layer so that the marked polarity is easy to identify.
6. The device identifier on the board must match the BOM list identifier.
